Hello all...
Many of you know Carl McLaughlin....a Babine blast from the past who guided and worked his ass off for Ejnar Madsen (orginal pioneer of the Norlakes Steelhead Camp). Carl made up a song years ago called the Babine River Song and played that song countless times for many a Norlakes Steelheader. I just received a great Merry Christmas cd from Carl with fourteen great country western tunes including the Babine River Song. I wanted to send this particular tune to you all, not just for the obvious reasons, but because I think this song might be a great Babine book title, "Old Babine, same as the year before." Hear the tune and see what you think....

If you want to contact him for a copy of his just released cd, I'm sure he might send you one for a reasonable price, etc. Another song on his cd is entitled Steelhead Paradise plus there are some great lyrics for twelve other songs...
Carl is also making a submission to the book that Peter McMullan and I are working on and I think the entire lyric set to the Babine River Song will be included in the book. Carl has a lot of great memories working for Ejnar and living the Babine experience so I sure look forward to his submission to the book...
Some of you may remember the days when after a week's steelheading at Norlakes, we all returned to Smithers and met at Vera's Cafe for the best pizza known to man plus Carl played his music while we ate pizza and consumed many beers! Vera's Cafe is gone, but Carl is not and the former owner and cook for Vera's Cafe known as the Lunch Goddess of the Alpenhorn Pub and Bistro still cooks there for lunches, and when she does, the soup she makes is to die for...
So here's to ya Carl for keeping the memories going and for singing the Babine River Song so many times you could do it in your sleep or while fighting a Babine buck at Callahan's at the same time .....yaaaaaaaaaahhhhhooooooooooo!
